For us, IBC, ( Indonesian Born Chinese :p ), Ling-ling is a common name for Chinese, and many people actually had 'Ling-Ling' as their name. Don't ask me what's the meaning behind that name, because obviously, I am more Indonesian than Chinese. Lols.
But anyway, I guess why this restaurant using that name is because, they serve classic and simple dishes, that usually served at home. They're using the traditional recipe from their mom and keep the authenticity in it.
The interior at Ling- Ling is soooooo vintage. You can see from the tiles, until the centerpieces, it's classic and definitely vintage. The lighting was quite dark, that's why I'm a bit struggling taking the pictures, but yeah, bare with me. Ling- Ling also quite spacious, with the bar area, dining area, and they're also have private rooms.
So for the food tasting, we're actually been served with LOTS of food. We start the dinner with an array of dimsums. They do all day dimsums here, and the taste was quite decent. So Ling-Ling could be your new spot for having dimsum in Jakarta right now. Some highlights of the dimsum that we have are this Black Sesame and Salted Egg Custard Glutinous Rice Ball - IDR 25.000/portion. It was reallyyyy goood with the crispy outer, and melty filling. The flavor was yummy too.
Another must-try is their Prawn and Beancurd Cheung Fan - IDR 30.000,-. The reason why I like it, because they put some You Tiao inside it ! It was soft and crispy at the same time!
Another dimsum that we have is...
Chicken Char Siu Polo Bun - IDR 30.000,- |
Pork and Prawn Shiu Mai - IDR 25.000,- |
Chinese Chive and Prawn Dumpling - IDR 30.000,- |
Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf - IDR 25.000,- |
Pork Spareribs in Black Bean Sauce - IDR 45.000,- |
Next to the Main Course, we've been served with Steamed Soon Hock Fish with Sweet Ginger Soy - IDR 65.000,-/ 100gr. Soon Hock Fish is one of premium freshwater fish type who have large demand among Asian countries. The meat texture was soooo soft and I can tell it's a fresh one. The seasoning was perfect, it's not too salty, yet it's savory enough.
Hakka-style Poached Chicken with Garlic & Sesame Oil - IDR 155.000 ( whole ). The chicken was still juicy and again, the seasoning was right. Love the savory and light sauce.
Claypot Rice, Chinese Sausage, Chicken, Shitake Mushroom - IDR 55.000,-. This claypot is sooo good, because the rice itself was sooo fragrant. They're also put some fried curry leaves in it, that's why it makes this dish so aromatic.
Crispy Aromatic Duck, Mandarin Pancakes, Hoisin Sauce - IDR 275.000,- ( Whole ). This is a nice concept, since we can DIY our duck-rolls. Love the soft and thin wrappers, the duck was a bit dry IMO, but the housemade hoisin sauce tasted amazing.
Ox Tongue, Chili, Szechuan Pepper and Miso Sauce - IDR 80.000,-. I don't know this was an Ox Tongue before, since it's sliced thinly, and it's tender just like a sliced beef. It was savory and a bit spicy.
Squid, Salted Egg Yolk, Crispy Curry Leaves - IDR 80.000,-. The batter was good enough since it's crispy enough, but unfortunately, it's lacking of the salted egg yolk flavor.
For desserts, Coconut Panna Cotta, Melon Balls, Sweet Coconut Soup - IDR 45.000,-. It was light and refreshing.
Mango Pudding, Pomelo, Young Coconut, Mango Lime Granita - IDR 60.000,-. There's something interesting with this desserts since they put some micro leaves in it, but it's soooo fragrant. I don't know what kind of leaves is that, but it makes this dish quite interesting.
Almond Jelly, Lychee Granita, Water Chesnut, Pear, Longan - IDR 45.000,-. It's light and had nice flavors.
Egg Waffle with Salted Caramel Biscuit Ice Cream - IDR 60.000,-. The ice cream was sooooo goood !
In here they also serves nice array of premium Chinese teas ! I've had No10 Jasmine Silver Needle - IDR 50.000,-. Just too bad the temperature was too hot, since it's best to brew tea not with boiling water.
