Product Tasting: Lady Eve Patisserie

Taking brownies to another level, I think that's what Lady Eve's does. Been received some of their products to try couple times ago, this kind of brownies has already been my favorite ! If you are a big chocolate-fan, you definitely will love this!

Comes with a nice packaging, my mom was thinking this is a fashion products! I wasn't at home for couple days, and my mom ( who receive the package ) didn't know that this was a brownies. She didn't put it in fridge, but it turns out still in good quality even though not stored in fridge for couple days.

The first one to try is Rum Raisin Chocolate Brownies. On the packaging was written 'reheat in microwave 30second before serving' and I follow the instructions. Oh my ...... it was choco-heaven ! The chocolate was half melted, and tasted better! The nice mixture of bitter and sweet taste from chocolate and rum. Compared to usual brownies that was cakey in textures ( crumbly but moist) , this was very dense, almost like eating a fudge. Addictive!

The second one is Passion Fruit Cream Cheese Brownies. This one is also had intense chocolate flavor, but also had tangy Passion Fruit flavor. I barely can taste the cream cheese though, because the passion fruit flavor are more strong. But it's still good!

The other flavors that you can try :
- Brandy - Black Forest Brownies Dark Chocolate cream filling with dark cherry infused in cherry brandy
-  Irish - Coffee Cream Brownies Milk chocolate  filling mix with butter and Irish Cream
-  Salted Caramel Brownies sea salt caramel and milk chocolate cream filling
- Vanilla Crème Brulee Brownies French classic dessert with combination  vanilla Madagascar  and caramel
- Milk Chocolate Truffle Brownies Classic Creamy and  velvety Chocolate cream
- Raspberry Cream Cheese Brownies Mixture of selected Raspberry fruit reduction and cream cheese
- American Cheese Cake Brownies Famously American cheese cake base filling with mild flavor of lemon
- Apple Crumble Brownies Apple and cinnamon filling with  crumble on top

Salted Caramel or Irish Coffee Cream Brownies sounds interesting, right? Looking forward to taste that one ;)  Last words, thanks Lady Eve Patisserie for sending me some of your products and wish you all the best!

LIN Artisan Ice Cream

For everyone that knows me, must've known that I'm such a sucker for dessert. I do eat butter, cream and sugar ! ( real women eat butter!!! ;p ) Even for some dessert that is too sweet for some people, I'm still okay with it. I know, I know, I could not resist to plunge myself into sugar-high moments :p

Ice cream definitely has a sweet-spot in my life. It's creaminess, it's temperature that could make u 'brain-freeze', it's ....... addictive ! To eat on it's own, or even mixed with another desserts or drinks, nothing goes wrong with it. And yes, a new way of enjoying ice cream using Liquid Nitrogen, finally hit Jakarta !

Liquid nitrogen has been widely used on modern molecular gastronomy these days. It is safe to use because it's only use the gas, and the liquid will evaporates so quick without leaving odor or color. Mrs. Astrid, the owner herself, learn this technique to Italy to make sure the procedure is safe enough.

Lin's interior also nice. A mix of industrial, vintage and organic look. Quite spacious with indoor and outdoor seating area.

Lin's also using 'artisan' to their name, because they use fresh produce to make the ice cream flavor, so every ice cream will taste differently according to the produce.  After you order, they would make it right away, fresh and only took 5 minutes to make!

Magic !
So the first one that we tasted that day is Lemon Sorbet - IDR 36.000. Not like usual sorbet that you still can taste the ice granules, this one is superrrr smooth. It's also taste creamy even though not using any cream. Healthier, light and refreshing!

Affogato - IDR 62.000. This Italian classic coffee-based beverage is also nice! Their using real vanilla beans for the ice cream, and poured some espresso on top. Nice mix of sweet and bitter !

Merry Strawberry - IDR 39.000. No artificial coloring on this one! The bright red color ice cream was very tempting right? Just like the lemon one, this one also nice with it's smooth textures and refreshing strawberry flavor.

A grown-up version ice cream, Smiley Baileys - IDR 69.000. Served with a nice crunchy waffle, this one was my most fave item ! I'm such a huge fans of Baileys, that's why! ;D Creamy and you can slightly taste the liquor ;)

In Lin, they also serves coffee drinks from Javabica, and some light snacks for you to enjoy.
Prawn and Squid Balls - IDR 22.000
Chicken Nugget - IDR 22.000
Overall I had good time tasting this new experience of enjoying ice cream. Thanks Lin Artisan Ice Cream & mba Astrid for inviting, and will look forward for another upcoming flavor ;)

Eastern and Oriental Jakarta

I bet you've already heard about this new establishment of the 'street food chef', Will Meyrick. The man behind Sarong and MamaSan - Bali, now bringing his vibe to Jakarta. I'm truly respect his true passion on Asian cuisine. He always traveling around Asia, going around many cities or villages, enjoying cooking with 'ibu-ibu', and translating his experiences through his dishes. A Scottish-born chef with Asian at heart ;p

Been attending his cooking demo twice, Will is a chef who not hesitate to use chillies and spices! Eating his dishes could makes your eyes pop! Could be a bit problem for westerner, but for us Indonesian, it really doesn't matter for having 'hot' dishes ! :p Speaking of E and O, you can expect those kind of dish on this restaurant since it's bringing Thai-Vietnamese cuisine. Fresh, vibrant, flavorsome !

I love the pattern on the E and O's ceiling and the vintage jade-color chairs, a nice mix of bistro and oriental. We've also been told that their food are served in big portion, so it's better to share. The waiter also has knowledge of the dishes, and they advise us how to eat it. Great service !

For starter we're having Chicken Betel Leaf with Coriander, Roasted Shallots, Capsicum and roasted Chilli Relish - IDR 25.000/ piece. Betel leaf known as 'Daun Sirih' in Indonesian, actually has been used as an appetizer in Thai- cuisine. The betel leaf taste bit crunchy, so it gives a nice textures to it. And the 'heat' from the chili relish, yum !

Chicken and Prawn in Egg Net with Peanuts, Lemongrass, Mint and Pickle Cucumber and Shallots Relish - IDR 65.000. Beautifully presented, the chicken and prawn was minced and even though it has red color, it wasn't spicy at all.

Selection of Northern Thai Relishes with "Nam Prik Ong", "Nam Prik Goong", "Nam Prik Num", and Crispy Tempura Vegetables - IDR 125.000. Definitely got the 'wow-factor' the way they present this dish. I love how they put 'real' ( read : raw ) veggies on it, just like Indonesian 'lalap' ! :D We eat the fish and veggies tempura with 3 kinds of Thai -dips. Nam Prik Ong is Chicken and Tomato which tasted a bit sweet. Nam Prik Goong is Dried Shrimp and Chili which tasted a bit salty. Nam Prik Num is Eggplant and Green Chili which tasted sweet and spicy at the same time. Very enjoyable since you could get different kind of taste in one dish!

Take a little bit of everything and eat it! :p

Southern Hot and Sour Soup of Fish with Kedondong Leaves, Turmeric, Chillies, Lime Leaves and Coriander - IDR 80.000 ( Half )/ IDR 140.000 ( Regular ). The fish tasted fresh and perfectly cooked, the soup tasted a bit mild though, but it's a perfect balance since we had a couple spicy appetizer before :p

Grilled Beef Salad with Green Mango, Shallots, Peanuts, Mint and Nam Jim Jaew - IDR 90.000. Looking at this reminds you with Som Tam right ? The grilled beef was cooked medium rare, it was actually pretty good to eat it with crunchy green mangoes. Refreshing!

'Choo Chee' of Crispy Barramundi with Chili and Thai Basil - IDR 170.000. Barramundi is a type of fish that very popular in Australia. But from google I just known that this fish also been widely used in Thailand! Even though they usually labeled wrongly as snapper or sea bass. Lols. In this dish, the fish are deep fried just like many Asian cooking do. Super crispy! And Choo Chee is basically a type of red curry that's really thick and tasted bit sweet. And yes, this one is Addictive!

Twice Cooked Beef Short Ribs with Sweet Fish Sauce, Cucumber and Nam Pla Prik - IDR 220.000. Oh my this was THE BOMB. The cubed ribs was soooo tender and succulent. The glazey-caramelized sauce makes it even better, and the ginger gives a nice balance to it. Eat it with dip in to Nam Pla Prik ( Thai Chili Fish Sauce ) and to Grounded Szechuan Pepper, flavor bursting in your mouth!

After the spicy vibrant dishes now we're ready for something sweet. Been heard of this dessert was a hit so much and here it is, Durian Pannacotta with White Sticky Rice - IDR 50.000. I believe they're using Thai Monthong Durian for this one! Sweet and delicate! But the textures wasn't taste like pannacotta to me, it was like eating pure Durian purée ( which is good! lols ). I know not every people loves durian, but if you a big fan of this hedgehog-like fruit , this one will definitely satisfy you! Seriously I could not stop eating until my friend staring at me. lols.

Spoonful of heaven!

Cocoa Ganache with Peanut Butter Palm Sugar Ice Cream and Honeycomb Crumble - IDR 50.000. Peanut Butter Ice Cream ?? How could go wrong with that?! It was too enjoyable and you definitely can taste the peanut butter! The honeycomb crumble also gives a nice texture to it. I immediately forgot my diet when I ate this two desserts. lols.

For the drinks, we had some of their mocktails, Kiwi and Basil - IDR 45.000. Made with Kiwi, Pineapple, Orange Juice, Basil leaf, Homemade Basil Syrup, Soda. Basil on your drink ? It's surprisingly works!

Virgin Sling - IDR 45.000. Pineapple, Cloudy Apple Juice, Passionfruit, Almond Syrup, Soda. I like this one! Fresh!

Last words, I totally recommend you to try this restaurant. E and O's really taking Asian dishes to another level and you definitely got the new taste and experiences. You'll be blown away with their harmonious flavor! And also, thanks for Raechel and Alvina for inviting :)

Passion For Pizza at Rosso Shangri-La Jakarta

I believe Italian food was already played a big role in our life. Presented fancy or even rustic-homemade style, Italian food always made us mouth-watering.The ooey-gooey melted cheese, the creamy sauce, the vibrant color of tomatoes, yum!

Couple weeks ago, I was invited to taste this Italian restaurant at Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta. Means 'Red' in Italian, Rosso's interior was sleek and uber-chic. With many touches of red throughout the space, we can feel the warmth, sexy and romantic atmosphere. Perfect for special dinner isn't it ? ;)

Italian dinner couldn't be perfect without their bread appetizer, agree ? A freshly made Grissini dip-in olive oil or pesto, perfect starter!

For appetizer we've also been served with Crudo of Beef Tenderloin - IDR 180.000. Crudo means 'raw' in italian, this salad served with arugula, mushroom and parmigiano cheese. The beef taste very tender even it's raw. Taste a bit sweet with bits of orange and pomegranate on top ,but balance with the bitterness of arugula and savory-buttery taste of parmigiano. A refreshing starter!

Still from appetizer, Porcini Mushroom Cappuccino - IDR 110.000. Love the earthy flavor of porcini mushroom, and also the dash of truffle oil on top, really delighting your senses!

Since it's a 'Passion for Pizza' promotion going on Rosso, we've also been served with their variant of pizzas. Chef Oriana Tirabassi, the first woman to win the Pizza World Championship on 1994, was the lady behind the kitchen. With her establishment, I do believe they're gonna served a really good pizza, and you know what...... it is ! From the chef that makes us the pizza, I just know that they also make a group community called Indonesia Spinning Pizza. Even though it's not popular yet in here, but if you had interest to do some 'acrobatic' pizza, I think you can join them! ( I wanted too! ) ;p
fly fly ! ;p

The first pizza that we've tasted is, Piccante Pizza - IDR 180.000. A classic pizza with Salami, Italian Sausage, Tomatoes, Mozzarella and Chili Flakes! The pizza dough was very enjoyable. Like a classic Italian do their pizza, it's super thin and crunchy ! I bet you already familiar with this kind of toppings, but the chili flakes makes this pizza a bit spicy!

Next one is my fave, Mascarpone Pizza - IDR 180.000. A pizza topped with grilled eggplants, ham, pesto, mascarpone, gorgonzola and pecorino cheese. I always love when different type of cheese mixed together! It really gives a nice complex creamy taste in your mouth. Heaven!

Then, Estiva Pizza - IDR 170.000. This one topped with prawns, corn, tomatoes, arugula and parmesan cheese. Very light and refreshing !

Then from the pasta section, we've also been served with Potato and Ricotta Gnocchi - IDR 180.000. Oh my... This is THE BEST Gnocchi I ever had. The gnocchi that I've had usually too chewy or too doughy, but not this one! It's very soft and melts in your mouth! The cream sauce also very yum! Bit sweet, because added Cognac in it. Creamy-dreamy heaven!

Then, Black Ink Tonnarelli Aglio Olio e Peperoncino, IDR 140.000. The black pasta made from squid ink, topped with clams, basil and cherry tomatoes confit. The pasta cooked al-dente and tasted fresh!

Cannelloni - IDR 150.000. Freshly made pasta stuffed with spinach, ricotta and cheese fondant. Spinach & ricotta cheese, how could go wrong with that ? ;p

Porcini Mushroom Risotto - IDR 110.000. It's hard to found good risotto in Jakarta isn't it? Apparently Rosso's could satisfy you ! Cooked perfectly with the perfect creaminess of risotto, and the earthy mushroom taste, umami!

Lobster Risotto - IDR 250.000. Made with thinly sliced of bottarga ( cured fish roe ), broccolini and lobster bisque. This is very scrumptious too! Like bringing sea to your plate!

Trilogy of Ravioli, Tortellini, and Capelleti - IDR 160.000. Can you tell the difference between Ravioli, Tortellini, Capelleti ?? :p Well I can say they shaped the pasta beautifully ! :D Every color has different flavors of meats, cheese, veggies. Perfectly cooked !

And, for the dessert..... prepare to be WOW-ed ! ;p Chocolate Sweet Pizza - IDR 265.000. This is a sweet pizza layered with nutella ( ow yeah!), banana, nuts, whipped cream ( go butter! ), and fresh berries and gold leaves ! They're just spoiled us with this dessert. A perfect ending! I can't stop eating this big slice of mine. lols. And the way they present it, feels like Christmas isn't it! ;D

Some of the cocktail and mocktail was Rosso Kir - IDR 150.000. Made from Creme de Cassis, Chardonnay and Maraschino Cherry. Sweet!

New Orleans - IDR 80.0000. Made with Pineapple Juice, Lemon Juice, Grenadine Syrup, and Ginger Ale.

From overall dishes that I had that day, I truly enjoy and satisfied. I think with the quality of dishes that they had, I can say they're one of the best Italian restaurant in Jakarta. Last words, thanks for Joris dan Mia from Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta for having me :)
