Food Tasting : Radja Gurame

Ikan Gurame ( Gourami Fish ) is a type of fish that really popular amongst Indonesian. To be honest, I'm not that type of person that really like this freshwater kind of fish. Because sometimes when it's not properly done or it's not fresh enough, you really can taste the muddy flavor. But, when it's deep fried, oh my.... it's a crunchy-heaven!

That sunday we're invited for lunch at the newly open branch of Radja Gurame at Pesanggrahan. Just like it's name, you can tell that this restaurant specializes in Gourami Fish. They serve the fish in personal portion, so yes... you can have one fish on your own! ;D Other than that the interior was also nicely done. Quite spacious, and gives a warm and pleasant Indonesian theme. Perfect for family or maybe some small event.

Now let's start with my most favorite menu on Radja Gurame shall we ? Gurame Kuah Thailand ( Gourami in Thai Soup ) - IDR 35.000 ( include rice ). This one is a fried gourami served with Tom Yum- like soup. The presentation was nice, the fish tasted fresh and the soup, oh my..... savory and has a right amount of sourness. Even my dad loves it too. Yum!

Gurame Bakar Rica ( Grilled Gourami in Rica sauce ) - IDR 39.000 ( include rice ). Big fan of spicy food? This one is definitely perfect for you! Well I'm a big fan of super-spicy food as well, so this one definitely my fave too :p

Gurame Goreng Cabe Ijo ( Fried Gourami in Indonesian Green Chillies ) - IDR 37.000 ( include rice ). Not like the usual cabe ijo that you found in Padang restaurant, this one is actually not that spicy. With some green tomatoes on it, the taste was more like spicy and a bit sour. Fresh !

Gurame Hotplate BBQ ( Gourami in BBQ sauce ) - IDR 39.000 ( include rice ). The sauce was quite tasty with sweet and sour BBQ taste.

Sup Gurame ( Gourami Soup ) - IDR 40.000 ( include rice ).

For the side dishes, they also served Plecing Kangkung - IDR 11.000 and Sayur Asem - IDR 4.000. Plecing Kangkung is a traditional food originally from Lombok. It's a boiled water spinach/ morning glory with the special sambal. I kind of like the sambal. Spicy !

Tauge Cah Polos ( Stir Fried Beansprouts ) - IDR 11.000. Perfectly done! Not overcooked and seasoned well.

They also served us their new menu which is Nasi Goreng Radja ( Fried Rice ) - IDR 27.000. The presentation was nice isn't it? Not like the usual Indonesian fried rice that using sweet soy sauce, this one have turmeric taste in it. Yum !

And for the drinks,  Es Cincau Susu - IDR 11.000, Thai Ice Tea - IDR 12.000, Es Cingcau Hijau - IDR 11.000

Overall we really had great time and food at Radja Gurame. Actually I've been there 3 times already! :D One good choice for having Gourami Fish around Jakarta. Last words, thanks Rendi and Radja Gurame for inviting :)

Colette and Lola

I don't know about you, but I always have a thing for sweets. I'm okay with sugar and cream  ( I know many girls don't :p ), I love it and I crave for it more and more. Haha... I know I should've control myself if I don't wanna get diabetes later on, but yeah... I try my best to balance it with doing some cardio once or twice a week :p Since I did go for run this morning, so it's okay to have cake one... or two isn't it ? ;D

So this newest addition from Ismaya Group is already been preview from the last year JCF's Closing Dinner. The Golden Hazelnut Praline that been served that night was quite mind-blowing. So yeah... When their store already open, I'm excited to join the crowd ! ;p

Atmosphere :
Every Ismaya's outlet always decorated nicely. Fun, sweet, vintage atmosphere fills up the room. And there's 3 KitchenAid that been used as the decor as well ! ( oh my...  ) Not only you could take-away their cakes, they're also provide some sitting area. Not much though since they were so packed!

Food :
They have many interesting selection of cakes, cupcakes and macarons. They also serve some drinks like coffee or tea.
So that day me and my friends tried My Lady Grey - IDR 28.000. This one is Valrhona 'caramelia' chocolate mousse with Earl grey tea infused bavarian cream. This one is pretty yum ! Somehow you can taste some salty taste on the mousse ( yeah I do taste that ), and some earl grey tea taste at the bottom.

Rose Berry - IDR 28.000. This one is Pink chiffon sponge, rose cream and raspberry marmalade. And yes, this was my fave too. The sponge layer is quite thin you almost can't taste it, the rose cream is totally yummy. I do love some rose-y taste :D

Between Love and Hate - IDR 28.000. This one is Vanilla crust pie, with lemon curd, lemon cream and lemon confit. Quite refreshing with strong lemony taste!

Carrot Cake and Blueberry Cheesecake Macarons - IDR 10.000/each. The Carrot Cake macarons surprisingly taste like carrot cake! haha.... Too bad the blueberry cheesecake one was tasteless. There's no flavor in it, only sweet. But as I've already written on "Mad About Macs" post , the texture of their macarons was quite perfect. Crunchy and slight chewy.

Food Tasting : Tapas Movida

It's been a long time since my last visit to Tapas Movida ( previous blogpost here) and I'm really excited to go back to this restaurant, since I think they really have good Spanish food compared to the others.

What's Spanish food without Tapas right? To do tapas bar hopping is still on my bucket list! What I like about it, is the idea of Tapas itself which encourage people to do MORE conversation instead of focusing on the food! haha... I think it's quite hard for most of foodies, since food is always our main focus! ;D
The lunch started with some pinchos and raciones, first is Patatas Bravas - IDR 25.000,- The potatoes fried perfectly and the tomato sauce on top made it perfect!

Montadito de ternera con queso azul y cebolla caramelizada - IDR 30.000,-. Beef tenderloin with blue cheese and caramelized onion. Nothing could go wrong with all of that! My fave ! :D

Galician Octopus. It is said they bought the octopus from Spain! And you know what, the octopus was surprisingly very tender! It was quite enjoyable even though I think it's a bit too salty.

Melon con jamon - IDR 30.000,-. A great mix of sweet and salty! The Ham immediately melts in your mouth. Yum!

Pintxo de polo moruno con salsa de yogur y queso - IDR 17.500,-. This one is a grilled chicken with cheese and yogurt sauce. I love the sauce!

Bocados de bonito con tomate confitade - IDR 15.000,-. This one is a fresh tuna with candied tomato and soya sauce. The soy sauce was quite light, so it's not too overpowering the tuna. Nice!

Panceta Asada - IDR 70.000,-. This one is To Die For! The succulent pork belly was very tender! and the red wine juice made it perfect!

And for the main course, we definitely should have Paella isn't it ? ;D Paella de Marisco - IDR 330.000,-. This one still as good as I remember! Best Paella in town!

Cordero al horno - IDR 195.000,-. This roasted lamb shank was very tender ! Yum!

And for the dessert, Churros con chocolate - IDR 30.000,-.

Drinks, of course... Sangria ! - IDR 295.000/jug.

Saint Mocktail. Fresh!

I do have great time, Thanks Riz and Tapas Movida for inviting!

Food Tasting : Mexican Food Extravaganza at Bengawan Restaurant

Mexican food always had the sweet spot in my life. I love how flavorful it is, just like ours, Indonesian cuisine! But too bad, in Jakarta I can only name 1 or 2 good Mexican restaurant. But still, good, not great. Thanks for Keraton Hotel Jakarta for bringing the authentic Mexican food this month! With the Mexican-born Executive Chef, Chef Lamberto Valdez Lara, totally satisfied my cravings for real Mexican food in Jakarta :D

The lunch started with some... Nachos ! What's Mexican food without Nachos right? :p It's a tortilla chips with shredded cheddar cheese on top. And what's nachos without the dips? There's Salsa, Guacamole and Red Beans and Beef. The Salsa, oh my... it's hot! :D I think Chef Lamberto already know that Indonesian are crazy about chili :p The guacamole tasted perfect and the red beans and beef gives a nice sweet balance to the dish.

Next is Chicken Tortilla Soup. Very enjoyable with a strong tomato taste. But yes, it's also a bit spicy :D Fresh !

For the main course there's Carne Asada, Green Rice, Chiles Rellenos and Chicken Flautas. The Carne Asada ( literally means Grilled Beef ) marinade with Achiote , cooked with roasted guajillo salsa, wild mushrooms and organic grown cherry tomatoes. The meat are super tender ! The taste was superb with extra heat in it. Yum!
For the Green Rice, Chef Lamberto suggest us to add the salsa, guacamole and red beans and beef to the rice. Results, still amazing. The Chiles Rellenos is a Stuffed bell pepper with Alaskan King Crab, fresh corn, goat cheese and chipotle sauce. And the Chicken Flautas is a stuffed flour tortilla with chicken, corn and cheese. All of it was tasted awesome!

What I love about Bengawan's buffet is, they serve oyster and foie gras everyday! Usually the other hotel only provide oysters on Saturday nowadays, but not with Bengawan. You can enjoy all this fancy food anytime! ;) And yes, they serve the good quality ingredients as well! To know more about Bengawan's check out my previous post here and here :)

Pretty dessert!
