Recipe : Crustless Ham Quiche

As I promise ( to myself :p ) that I don't wanna put only restaurant review on my blog, here I am posting my first Yummy Traveler recipe ! ;p It wasn't planned actually, but after my far -far sister who lives in Cambodia asking for a recipe after I posted the pic on my facebook, I'm thinking....... why not put it here and share with you guys? ;)

I always love cooking or baking. I just wish I had a better kitchen, better tools or utensils ( like those KitchenAid lols ). But yea.... I have to learn to be grateful with what I have right? ;) The good side of it is sometimes it push my creativity. It's also push my skill and instinct ( yea cooking need good instinct! haha ) I failed many times. But cooking teaches me that even though you failed many times, it doesn't mean your not good at it. Keep on trying, and someday you could nailed it!

Ok so back to the Quiche. Quiche is actually comes from city of Lorraine in French. That's why Quiche Lorraine is the name you've been familiar with, right? Usually it made from a pie crust, then an egg custard on top. U can add anything to your quiche! Spinach, bacon, ham, zucchini, mushroom, Anything ! The day that I made this crustless Quiche, it's the day that I found almost nothing in my fridge! Oh well... only Ham that's left, so that is why. haha...

What I love about Quiche is the textured that really soft and smooth. In the same time you can taste the creamy goodness from Egg, Cheese and Milk. Oh man... I just loveeee dairy products. haha... That's why I love Quiche so muchhh! Amour !

Quiche is pretty easy to make, and I bet if you do what I have here, it's really a perfect 'to go' food. Whether you are a busy worker or college student, or maybe a busy mommy. It's easy, quick and yummy at the same time! You can put together whatever you have in your fridge as long as you have egg, milk and cheese. haha.. Ok then, so here's my recipe! Enjoy!

Cook Time : Around 1 hour.
Servings : 7
Ingredients :

4 tbsp Olive Oil
2.5 cm or 1 1/2cups day- old bread cubes ( or you just can use breadcrumbs)
1/2 medium white Onion, chopped
3 large eggs
2 egg yolks
2 cups or 680gr Full Cream Milk ( or you can substitute to Skim Milk )
170gr Cheese ( You could use any kind of cheese Goat cheese, Gruyere, Swiss, but this time I just use KRAFT Cheddar Cheese )
2 tsp Oregano
Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions :

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F ( or 170 C ).

Pulse bread into crumbs in a food processor ( or you can just use bread crumbs instead ). Heat 2 tablespoons Olive Oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add bread crumbs and stir evenly until toasted. Usually around 5 minutes.

Lightly greased your 10 inch ( or 27cm ) glass or ceramic pie pan with butter, then evenly spread the crumbs.

Wipe out the skillet, add remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil, then ad the onions and ham, cook over medium high heat. Add salt, pepper, and oregano. Stirring for 2 minutes then remove from heat, cool slightly.

Whisk together milk, eggs, egg yolks in a large glass or bowl. Then add your cheese, this time I use cheddar so I grated my cheddar cheese. Spread the mixture in the prepared pan.

Bake until the quiche is just set in the center, about 40 to 50 minutes. Cool completely before serving and ..... enjoy!
