Food/Rest. Review : Bonchon Chicken

"I want nobody nobody but you !"
Nobody - Wondergirls

Yes, If you know those lyric or even familiar with the song, I bet you already infected by the Korean Fever! ;D Not only in Indonesia, but I think many other country also having those Korean Fever everywhere! That Korean drama and Korean music are soooo hypnotizing ( Yeah I have watched and heard some ftw ).

In line with the "trend", I think the demand of Korean food also raising. Everybody now wanna know what is Tteokbokki or BiBimbap or even Kimchi, that they oftenly see what the actor/actress are having at K-Drama :p Nowadays we can easily found many kind of Korean food around us. From the 'original' one or the one that already 'fusion', Bonchon, is also the one not to be missed.

Founded on 2002 in Busan -South Korea, surprisingly Bonchon are quite a hit when they're brought it to USA. After the business are growing, now we also can found Bonchon at Thailand, Dubai, Philippines, Singapore, and also, Indonesia ! :D

Just a few week away from their first opening branch at Grand Indonesia Mall, Me and several bloggers are invited to taste this famous Korean fried chicken. So.... shall we start ?

Atmosphere :
The interior are so interesting. Minimalism meets Industrial. They make it modern and sharp, but still comfy at the same time. Love it.

Price :
around IDR 40.000 - 50.000/ person

Food :
That time we had a chance to taste some of their fried chicken and fish and also their dessert. First, you can choose what part of the chicken that you want. Whether it's wings, drumsticks, thigh, strips or even mixed. Then, you can choose the portions, Small, Medium or Large. After that, you can choose whether it's a Soy Garlic flavor, or the Spicy one.
You have to know that they're frying it upon your order, so you have to wait around 20minutes to get your chicken ( better not if you are in really really hungry conditions :p ). It is said that they're using Canola Oil and some secret frying technique, so you can get a very crispy outside but not greasy on the inside.

So here I am, testing out some of their chicken, which is Soy Garlic Drumsticks - ( 2pieces - IDR 25.000,-/ 4pieces - IDR 45.909/ 8pieces - IDR 88.636 ). Oh yea, I agree, the skin is really crispy, and the chicken meat is tender and juicy yet not greasy. You have to know that the chicken are not marinated before, so maybe you feel lack of seasoning when you only eat the meat. Best you eat it with the skin, because all the flavors are there. But anyway.... I just love it.

Then, Spicy Wings ( 4pieces - IDR 25.000/ 8pieces- IDR 45.909/ 16pieces - IDR 88.636 ). I love the spicy more, because I can taste some 'gochujang' ( which I love ) in it.

Dory Fish ( 3pieces - IDR 38.909/ 6pieces - IDR 62.727/ 12pieces - 99.545 ) To me the fish taste just so -so. I think it will be nicer if the outside also more crispy.

Chicken Salad - IDR 36.818,-

French Fries - IDR 9.090,- Comes in a cup. Taste just okay.

Mochi Ice Cream - IDR 10.000,-. It actually taste quite nice. The outside mochi wasn't too tough, yet there's a milky vanilla ice cream inside it. Simply yum.

Casual Fine Dining by Starbucks Indonesia

Couple weeks ago, I've been invited by Starbucks Indonesia to taste some of their new products during winter season. I know we don't have winter here in Indonesia, but Starbucks always have something new every season worldwide. Taking place at the newest Starbucks Branch in Tempo Scan Tower, here I am ready for the coffee - rush ! :p

That time, we're introduce to the newest additions of Whole Bean coffees which is, Guatemala Casi Cielo. Casi Cielo means 'Almost Heavens', with the characteristic of rich and elegant, also taste smooth yet full-bodied. To me, this coffee perfect for those who doesn't like 'strong' coffee. It's not too sharp and smoky. Guatemala Casi Cielo perfect to be matched with chocolate, nuts, caramel, berry or lemon.

The new drinks, for the new year ! Valencia Macchiato ! This drink are a mixed of Sweet Valencia Orange Flavor, hot milk, foam and espresso with honey Valencia drizzle on top. To me, this drink is quite unique. The orange flavor are not too strong, but you can still taste it. Orange mixed Coffee ? Who knows it taste this good!

Now, let's move to the winter food !
First, Starbucks Fruit Toast - IDR. 19.000,-. Two piece of wheat bread containing dried fruits ( cranberry, dark raisins, apricots, papaya, pumpkin), sunflower seeds and assorted nuts. This bread has an interesting texture when it goes in your mouth. It's even better when it mixed with butter. Best for breakfast!

Mango Lychee Layered Cake - IDR 30.000,-. Aaaaa... I love this so much! A nice layer of mango cream cake and lychee at the middle, so sweet and yum!

Tokyo Cheese Danish - IDR 21.000,-. Buttery bread with cream cheese filling. I love the shape ! But I wish the cream cheese filling are a little bit more :p

Chicken Caesar Wrap and Tuna Tomato Wrap - IDR 33.000,-. Well.... I love it both!

And also welcoming winter season and valentine, comes up with the Starbucks merchandise.

And the most interesting part :p the goodie bag ! We've got Starbucks Agenda Planner along with a glass, a bag of Guatemala Casi Cielo, Caramel Stroop Wafel, Fruit toast and the wraps! I love the agenda so muchhhh! Big thanks to Corry and Starbucks Indonesia for inviting !

Food/Rest. Review : Mie Rica Kejaksaan

Maybe many of you already make this noodle a must- eat food when you go to Bandung. I know. "Mie Rica" ( Mie = "Noodle", Rica = "some sort of Spicy sauce" ) is already quite famous now. The level of the spiciness that could make your tongue burns, make this noodle quite a favorite. I think Indonesian are a freak for chili, we crazy about it and we love to let our tongue even our stomach burn eating those "Keripik" or those "Indomie" ( Yeah, me too ) :p

Atmosphere :
Well, since I go there at lunch time, I choose to go at their branch which is in Paskal Hyper Square. It's simply because they open anytime, while the 1st branch is only open at certain time. The place is only 1 "Ruko" ( shop house ) so it's not too big. When I came there, the place is quite packed, and the service is sooooooo bad.

Price :

Quite pricey for noodle only, IDR 25.000 - 30.000/person.

Food :
When I came, the Pork "Mie Rica" is already ran out, so we order Chicken "Mie Rica" instead - IDR 17.000,- . Well.... to me, it's not that special. Yes it's spicy, but what I taste, the sauce is rather sweet. But the noodle is quite nice though.

Then, Spicy Mie Chasio - IDR 21.000,-. I kinda' liking this better than the usual Mie Rica. The noodle already mixed with the chili, so the results is really HOT. Then with 'Chasio' ( Chinese BBQ Sweet Pork ) as a topping, what more could you ask for.

Pangsit Kuah (Shrimp Wonton Soup) - DIR 20.000,-. It is said that the Fried Wonton is quite a bomb too, but too bad it's already sold out too. So we order this instead. It's just taste okay, the soup is quite savory though.

After we finish, apparently the new stock of "Pork Rica" already come, so we just order an extra "Pork Rica" toppings - IDR 8.000,- . Compare to the 'Chicken Rica' it is more savory, but the sauce is quite sweet for me, so for my personal opinion, I like it, but it's not that special ;)

Food/Rest. Review : Standing Sushi Bar

Maybe you are a lil' bit confused when you heard the name. Me too ! and my friends too ! :p Even though the restaurant name is "Standing Sushi Bar", don't worry, we actually not 'stand' while we eat ( ha! ), yes they still had chairs and tables ! ;D It is said that the restaurant firstly open in Singapore ( Marina Bay Link Mall & 8th Queen Street ). Now, they opening a new branch at La piazza Kelapa Gading. So..... Irrashaimase ~ ! :)

Atmosphere :
The interior is quite a typical Japanese Restaurant. It's quite spacious with a minimalist modern Japanese design. The ceiling are quite high, and I love a little touch of Sakura Flowers on the wall. Too bad, just like the another 'recently opened' restaurant, the service was BAD. I am taking my napkins, plates and spoon myself, because the waiters are not there to serve us. And when I ask the greeter to help us taking photos, she 'seems' busy and ignore us. We've waited for her for a quite long time, and she still makes herself busy. So yeah... we just leave. But hang on guys, we haven't reached the food review part, so just keep reading ! :p

Price :
IDR 100.000- 120.000/person. ( Yes quite pricey for a restaurant around Kelapa Gading :p )

Food :
When I first coming there, they're had an ongoing promotion which is Salmon Sashimi & Tsukimi Udon just for IDR 13.500 ! So.... without thinking much, we just order that first ! :p

Salmon Sashimi - IDR. 35.000,-. Nothing could go wrong with Salmon Sashimi. Always been my fave ! The sashimi taste fresh and thick. I think it's a good quality salmon that they choose.

Tsukimi Udon - IDR 38.000,- Yes it's just a simple udon and poached egg. I feel like the udon was undercooked, and the broth wasn't savory enough. Need improvement ! :)

Then we order, Jumbo Dragon Roll - IDR 80.000,- Ok I wasn't a big fan of the presentation, but it taste quite nice. It's quite different than the usual dragon roll that I've ever eaten, the Unagi ( Eel ) on top is half broiled, so when it reached to your mouth, you can taste the smoked taste and lil' crunch on it. Interesting.

Next, Spicy Fried Shake ( Salmon) Maki - IDR 35.000,-. I love how spicy the mayonnaise was ! But the salmon inside wasn't too generous, so we just taste the nice crunch outside, but can't taste the salmon.

Tori Katsu - IDR. 22.000,-. The meat are quite tender, but I think a lil' bit more seasoning could made it more yummy. But yea.... chili sauce can help ! ;p
