Couple weeks ago I've been invited by Stratcom Indonesia and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise to attend some event called, Taste New Zealand. Take place in Grand Mahakam Hotel, this event is held to celebrate New Zealand's wealth of first class ingredients and growing success in the Indonesian food and beverages market. Over the last five years, New Zealand's export to Indonesia have shown significant growth. Indonesia is currently New Zealand's 9th largest export market, worth NZD 870 million ( 6.04 trillion in rupiah ). Wow !
But somehow I agree with the number. If you go to local supermarket, you can found fresh produces from New Zealand so easily right? I think the freshness and the quality which makes these products success in the market.
This event also attended by His Excellency David Taylor ( New Zealand Ambassador to Indonesia and ASEAN ), Fiona Acheson ( New Zealand Trade Comissioner to Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei ) and also Nick Dumergue ( New Zealand's own Indonesia- based vinologist ).
So that night, we've been served by many kinds of New Zealand's wine. Yay. It's always interesting to see the design of the New Zealand's wine bottle. So different and unusual. That night I got a chance to taste 3 wines which is Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2011, Kim Crawford Marlborough Pinot Noir 2009 and Kim Crawford Pansy! Rose 2009. The Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc taste so refreshing, it's fruity with a dry finish. The Kim Crawford Pinot Noir has a rich flavours combines of fruity and smoky oak and has soft tannins. I try pairing it with some lamb, and it turns out really nice. The Kim Crawford Pansy! Rose is a rose wine that is light and fruity. Love it.
Besides the wine, we also served by some canapes, mushroom cream soups and Kings prawns mixed salad with New Zealand Avocado Oil dressings. The dressings was taste really nice.
We also served with the Iga Kambing Bakar New Zealand Saus Kecap, Grilled New Zealand lamb with barbeque sauce, and New Zealand beef tenderloin in chinese blackpepper sauce. The meats is so tender and savory. Really yummm.... ! And all the New Zealand's lamb and beef that been served that night was provided by PT Indoguna Utama, a large company who distributes the New Zealand's product in Indonesia ( and other country too ).
And for the dessert we also been served by New Zealand Zespri Kiwifruit Platter, a tartlet with New Zealand Zespri Kiwifruit, New Zealand Zespri Kiwifruit Cheese Cake, Peach Pudding, and New Zealand Ice cream drizzled with Whittaker's chocolate. Fresh and yum ! Beware sweet tooth ! :p
Besides that I also got a chance to try some interesting drinks called Aroha Elderflower Sparkle. There's a 3 taste of it, which is Blackcurrant, Feijoa and Rhubarb. The taste is interesting with a taste of flower in it. I love the Feijoa more ! And there's also a display of another New Zealand's product like Manuka Honey, Avocado Oil and Whittakers Chocolate.
There's also a doorprize for that night. The winners got a ticket for two to Auckland, New Zealand. I want it so badddd, but too bad I didn't win it :( Yea maybe next time haha...
Last words, I really - really had a great time! Got a chance to meet new peoples and also Celebrity Chef Bara Pattiradjawane and Chef Farrah Quinn :p Thanks to Stratcom Indonesia and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise for inviting !
